My Hair Journey (So Far) With Sassoon Salon
By now, you are well aware of my obsession with my friends at Sassoon Salon, but I really can’t express just how much I love visiting them all while getting my look updated every few weeks!
Over the last few years, I’ve come to really appreciate my hair, so being an ambassador at Sassoon has been amazing. Luckily, I’ve fallen so in love with the salon that I find it a true treat when I make an appointment to switch things up a little.
I recently went through a little change with my hair, which left me with a subtle but incredibly difficult to maintain, teal mane. Since then, I felt like my hair had never been the same. I suppose that’s what I get for thinking I could make a change on my own! Naturally, when I knew that my locks needed extra love, I quickly booked an appointment with my colourist John Beeson at Sassoon.
What I’ve previously mentioned here on the blog is how important it is to find the right hairstylist and colourist. It’s so essential to not only have the skill in a colourist, but to have someone you can count on and one that can give you honesty when looking to change or maintain a look. Due to the fact that I had a difficult teal in my hair and I did not want to add further harm to my ends, John insisted that we let the colour run its course and simply do a treatment, which he believed would help my dry and brittle ends to prevent breakage.
As much as I wanted the teal gone, it was even more important to me that I keep the strength and shine to my hair, so John offered his recommendations and after touching up my roots, we decided to tone down the teal rather than completely re-dye. That moment was a reminder of what it means to have a stylist and colourist that you can trust. Sometimes visiting the salon isn’t always about leaving with the look you want, but I always appreciate leaving Sassoon with the treatment that I need.
A few months ago, I was reminded of John’s honesty after I confessed that I wanted a really dramatic hair colour. After showing him Pinterest photos of violet and blush pink locks, he replied with “Dani, I don’t think that is a good idea for your hair” and of course, though I was disappointed, he insisted that I go down a different route to have a dramatic look, which is why I went for bangs before the summer this year!
It’s safe to say that I was so happy that John influenced me to go for a chop rather than a dye that would damage and break my hair that he knew I spent so much time trying to grow out. And not only did John encourage this change, but my stylist Wesley Hanlon also backed up his idea and simply said “Let’s go for it!”
Nothing is better than leaving your hair in the right hands. After visiting Sassoon, I know exactly what my hair needs which are treatments, occasional trims and the right colour for my skin tone, while staying away from hot tools and boxed dyes which John claims are a big no-no!
So, since I can’t share enough love for my friends at Sassoon and even more so, what they’ve done for my locks, I wanted to share in on the fun! I’m offering Girls of T.O readers the chance to win a Sassoon Salon makeover valued at $300 so you can get a new look for the holidays!
